What is Micro Current Neurofeedback?
IASIS MCN (micro current neurofeedback) is a non-invasive, non-medicinal, and revolutionary type of neurotechnology that helps optimize brain performance. IASIS MCN does not train the brain like traditional neurofeedback; rather it “retrains” the brain and CNS (central nervous system) by allowing it to reorganize itself and shift from its formerly fixed patterns. This is analogous to re-booting a “frozen” computer. And similar to a computer reboot, IASIS helps a person’s brain activity restart and rebalance very gently. This process is repeated over the course of several sessions, eventually resulting in the brain becoming permanently calibrated and stabilized. IASIS is the very first neurofeedback system backed by image-based evidence of success.
What does IASIS MCN treatment look like?
IASIS treatment sessions will be administered in a relaxing environment. Some non-greasy electrode paste will be gently applied to the skin on certain sites of the head and neck, to help improve the conductive quality of the recording. Several electrodes (similar to EKG leads but much smaller) will then be placed embedded into the paste. After a short assessment of the equipment and the by the clinician, the equipment itself then generates extremely faint, battery-generated signals. These low-intensity pulses of energy encourage the brain to respond in beneficial ways and help support the central nervous system. As a reference point for intensity level, a cellular telephone generates a signal at least 10 million times the power of the IASIS MCN signal. The intensity of MCN is less than a trillionth of a watt and will only take place for a few seconds at a time during each procedure, which is why no instances of problems with the emissions have ever been recorded. During the session you will be asked to relax and sit quietly. You will be asked to try not to think or focus on anything in particular; no imagery, no constructive thoughts, and especially nothing stressful, as we’ve found that this can slow treatment progress. Your brain will be able to detect the feedback, although you will not see or feel anything.
In the time period between treatments, in order to help us best tailor the program to fit your situation, you will be asked to observe and keep track of symptom improvements, discomforts, or any other changes that you may notice.

Is treatment a one-time deal, or will return visits be required?
Because the healing effects of IASIS are cumulative, we highly recommend investing in one of our package programs (see clinician for pricing). Commitment to an ongoing, interactive level of care allows our clinicians ample time to measure reactivity and improvement between treatments and to adjust treatment protocols accordingly. Each IASIS MCN session adds to the positive impact of the last, creating a cumulative healing process and moving the brain and central nervous system towards peak functioning.
How many treatment sessions will be needed?
The average number of treatments required for optimal success is between 10-25 sessions. This can be difficult to predict, due to each individual having a unique set of circumstances. Some determinant factors include age, duration and severity of symptoms, and overall lifestyle habits. For example, if your problem came on suddenly, after a life of high-functioning activity, you may only need a minimal number of sessions. However, if you have a lifelong history of multiple chronic problems, a more substantial investment may be required. Your initial consultation will help with setting the proper expectations up front.
When will it be time to discontinue IASIS treatment?
It will be time to discontinue treatment when you stabilize and achieve consistently improved functioning in your daily life. Most of those who have received IASIS treatment have continued to realize improvement long after IASIS has ended.
Frequently Asked Questions
Over 100,000 patients (and counting!) have safely used IASIS technology with great success. Successes are common with PTSD and TBI sufferers such as Veterans, First Responders, and others who suffer from the effects of high stress or trauma.
IASIS does not treat symptoms, rather it focuses on addressing the actual source of the symptoms. Various studies of the brain have shown people who suffer from anxiety, post-traumatic stress, depression, and other conditions have high levels of abnormal delta wave activity. Therefore, the IASIS MCN system isolates its focus to the areas in the brain which are exhibiting those abnormal delta waves.
The non-invasive nature of IASIS MCN treatment is safe for both children and adults alike. Our team will complete a proper intake process to assess for any potential treatment concerns. The treatment itself is passive and painless. Treatment is administered under the supervision of a licensed professional therapist.
IASIS MCN is not a medical treatment, rather it is the retraining of the brain and nervous system. It is not intended to act as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you believe you have a medical condition, always seek the advice of a physician, or other qualified health care provider, with any questions or concerns you may have. All information found on this website is for informational purposes only.
Concerning the potential for interaction with prescription medications, though the risk is extremely low, we always recommend you first consult with your physician. Never self-medicate or choose to discontinue taking your medicine without discussing it with your doctor.
As with any new medical treatment or technology, success can never be guaranteed. However, patients who find success with IASIS are often able to completely eliminate the use of medications. And in addition to the obvious health benefits of doing so, savings realized by eliminating the lifetime cost of medication can be significant.
The initial intake appointment and consultation will be approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour. The average time for standard treatment sessions is 20-30 minutes.
The Research Behind the Technology
- The Department of Radiology at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) and the US Department of Veterans Affairs piloted studies of IASIS Micro Current Neurofeedback in 2017. The pilot study utilized working with U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton who were returning from the Middle East with post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). They took magnet encephalography images before and after treatments to demonstrate the effect of this method on brain abnormalities in patients with traumatic brain injury. They saw a 54 percent (54%) reduction in abnormalities and a 53 percent (53) reduction in symptoms. Patients recorded improvements in headache, sleep disorders, anxiety disorders, stuttering, hypersensitivity, tobacco consumption, memory, focus and concentration, and frustration resilience.
- The University of Texas has had such incredible success with IASIS Technology in mitigating common Behavioral Health problems like anxiety and depression that their research department at the UT Tyler branch has now started two formal research studies on the effectiveness of IASIS. The studies are focused on mitigating anxiety and depression and slowing down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, a new double-blinded and randomized research study is now being co-authored by UT Tyler with Matthews Hope Foundation to determine the effectiveness of IASIS in promoting abstinence-based sobriety without relapse in active opioid users.
